Caltrans District 11 Construction Department has developed this method of answering Bidder's Inquiries to better serve the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects. Caltrans District 11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by any of the contractors that are registered Planholders for that Contract, but reserves the right to not answer any questions deemed unsatisfactory for public viewing.
The BIDDER'S INQUIRIES & RESPONSES will be updated continuously and all attempts will be made to do the final posting by 15:00 on Wednesday prior to the bid opening.

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=tems #15, #16 and section 10-1.17 Existing Hwy Facilities - Bridge Removal (Portion) on page 167.

Question=  All three items (15, 16 and Bridge Removal) require the contractor to submit a paint removal plans in one form or another. Which would require 3 removal plans for the same work.

  • Please bid per the current contract document.
Then items #15 and #16 pay for the clean and paint of the same items of work. On page 185 under measurement and payment for dry spot blast and paint undercoating is to clean and paint the areas that the fillet weld is to be removed. Then the price for clean and paint structural steel is for the new structural steel. The only new steel to be placed are the bolt assemblies and they're to be zinc-coated by the mechanical deposition process. It seems that these items are redundent.
