Construction along State Route 168 and US Highway 395 is anticipated to re-commence the week of October 7th, 2018. This construction is part of the Bishop ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Project which includes sidewalk, curb, and driveway replacement at various locations. Work will involve paving asphalt conforms to smooth the transition area between driveways and the new sidewalk. Paving is expected to be completed by October 19th.
Work is contengent upon weather and unforseen circumstances. The construction schedule is subject to change.

This project will improve access for all residents and visitors to Bishop. It is one of Caltrans’ projects to improve ADA accessibility to pedestrian facilities throughout the state as part of the 2010 settlement of a class action lawsuit filed by the Californians for Disability Rights and the California Council for the Blind.

Considerable planning and coordination has gone into the development of this project in an effort to minimize disruption to businesses, services, pedestrian access, and vehicle traffic. While there will be unavoidable impacts due to the nature of construction activities we hope continued updates through press releases, the project webpage, and close communication with adjacent businesses and properties directly impacted that disruptions will be minimized.
