Colorado River Viaduct Bridge Repair Project Begins at I-8 California/Arizona Border
SAN DIEGO——Construction activity will begin at Gateway Park beneath westbound Interstate 8 (I-8) at the Colorado River Viaduct Bridge in the City of Yuma beginning Wednesday at 9 a.m., according to Caltrans.
Yuma traffic on westbound I- 8 will be detoured at 16th Street west, then north on 4th Avenue across the Colorado River to merge onto westbound I-8 on the California side.
Gateway Park will be impacted for up to four weeks with weekday work taking place 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. the first week. The work window may extend to evening hours or as needed.
Moderate construction noise is expected. Visitors will be able to access Gateway Park throughout the project.Motorists may experience delays. Signs will be placed in advance of the closure and motorists are asked to allow extra time while travelling through this area.
