Welcome to the online California Film Permit Application.
The California Film Commission is subject to state furloughs by Executive Order from the Governor. Our office will be closed the first, second, and third Friday of each month. Due to the shortened work schedule, all permit applications must be submitted four (4) business days prior to the first prep/shoot day. (For road closures, a meeting is required twelve (12) business days prior to filming.)
A permit is required whenever filming takes place on state property. The California
Film Commission is a one stop shop for State permits and will assist you in obtaining
the required approvals from the CHP, Caltrans, State Parks, Facilities and the
State Fire Marshal, where necessary.
