Pothole Repair Work to Start on Interstate 80

Placer County - Caltrans is alerting motorists of various lane and ramp closures along Interstate 80 (I-80) in Placer County for emergency pothole repairs next week.

Motorists can expect lane and ramp closures next week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at these locations:

  • Tuesday, April 2 - Eastbound I-80 between Clipper Gap and Applegate
  • Wednesday, April 3 – Eastbound I-80 between Weimar and the junction with State Route 174 (SR-174)
  • Thursday, April 4 – Westbound I-80 between the junction with SR-174 and Canyon Road

The emergency repairs are part of an $8.9 million contract awarded to George Reed Inc. of Modesto to repave the section of I-80 between Auburn and Colfax last year. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
