8-Hour Full Highway Closures Extended For Testing Of State Route 4/Old River Bridge

Additional Overnight Full Closures Scheduled On March 28 & 29, 2024, From 8:00 P.M. Until 4:00 A.M. – Detour Required

San Joaquin County – Caltrans will continue to perform 8-hour, overnight full highway closures for the safety of workers and motorists for testing operations of the State Route 4 Old River Bridge, located at the San Joaquin/Contra Costa County line, east of Discovery Bay. This testing is required to ensure proper bridge opening/closing functions as completion nears for the bridge preventative maintenance and rehabilitation project that will make necessary upgrades and repairs of the Old River Bridge,

Overnight closures will continue beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, until 4:00 a.m. on Friday, March 29, and from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, until 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024. During these closures, the following detour will be required;

State Route 4 Detour Information:

  • Westbound SR-4 travelers: The detour begins at the Tracy Boulevard intersection; south on Tracy Blvd; west on I-205; north on Mountain House Parkway; northwest on Byron Road to SR-4.
  • Eastbound SR-4 travelers: The detour begins at the Byron Road intersection; southeast on Byron Road; south on Mountain House Parkway; east on I-205; north on Tracy Blvd to SR-4.

 

Caltrans will utilize flaggers, as well as overhead and portable changeable message signs, alerting motorists of the detour and potential delays which are expected to be approximately 30 minutes.

Overnight, one-way traffic control will also be required at the SR-4 Old River Bridge beginning Monday, April 1, through Friday, April 5, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m.

This project is required to upgrade existing mechanical and electrical components and to implement structural repairs to increase the reliability and serviceability of this 100-year-old swing span bridge.

Work will include repairing or replacing equipment that operates the movable portion of the bridge, replacing the electrical power supply to the bridge by installing a new cable in the river bottom, and adding a new control board and associated equipment to the control house above the traveled way of SR-4 on the bridge structure.

Overnight One-Way Traffic Control At Old River Bridge

San Joaquin County The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various lane closures on State Route 4 (SR-4) for maintenance and construction operations.  Work will occur as follows;

  • Overnight, one-way traffic control on SR-4 at the Old River Bridge (just east of Discovery Bay) for utility work beginning Monday April 1, through Friday, April 6, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m.
  • Overnight, one-way traffic control at South Walker Lane for utility work beginning Monday April 1, through Thursday, April 5, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  • Overnight, one-way traffic control at South Hollenbeck Road for utility work beginning Monday April 1, through Thursday, April 5, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

 


Interstate 5 – Lane & Ramp Closures
Overnight Lane Closures For Stockton Channel Viaduct Bridge Work

San Joaquin County The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various ramp and lane closures on Interstate 5 (I-5) for maintenance and construction work within San Joaquin County.  Work will occur as follows;

  • Overnight, full on and off-ramp closures on southbound I-5 at Manthey Road for bridge work beginning Monday April 1, through Thursday, April 5, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m.
  • Overnight, full off-ramp closures on northbound I-5 at Mossdale Road for bridge work beginning Monday April 1, through Thursday, April 5, 2024, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  • Overnight, alternating closures of the #1 (left) through #3 (middle) lanes of I-5 at Paradise Cut/Overflow for bridge work beginning Monday April 1, through Thursday, April 5, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. (northbound) and from 7:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. (southbound.)
  • Overnight, full on-ramp closures from Downing Avenue to northbound I-5 for bridge work beginning Monday April 1, through Thursday, April 5, from 10:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m., and on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 12:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m.
  • Overnight, full off-ramp closures from southbound I-5 at Downing Avenue for bridge work beginning Monday April 1, through Thursday, April 5, from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., and on Friday, April 5, through Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
  • Overnight, full on-ramp closures from Eighth Street to southbound I-5 for bridge work beginning Monday April 1, through Thursday, April 5, from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., and on Friday, April 5, through Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
  • Overnight closures of the #1 (left) and #2 (left-middle) lanes on northbound I-5 at Stockton Channel Viaduct for bridge work beginning Monday, April 1, through Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  • Overnight closures of Weber Avenue (local street) under the I-5 Stockton Channel Viaduct for bridge work beginning Monday, April 1, through Thursday, April 5, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  • Overnight, full on-ramp closures from Monte Diablo Avenue to southbound I-5 for shoulder work beginning Monday April 1, through Thursday, April 5, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

 


State Route 99 – Lane Closures
From Arch Road In Stockton To Sr-12/Kettleman Lane In Lodi

San Joaquin County The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on State Route 99 (SR-99) for maintenance and construction operations.  Work will occur as follows:

  • Overnight closures of the #1 (left) and #2 (middle) lanes of northbound SR-99 from Arch Road to Munford Avenue for shoulder work beginning Monday April 1, through Thursday, April 5, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  • Overnight closures of the #1 (left) lane of northbound SR-99 at SR-12/Kettleman Lane for bridge work beginning Monday April 1, through Thursday, April 5, 2024, from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.

 


Interstate 205 – Lane Closures
From East Banta To Paradise Cut

San Joaquin County The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various lane and ramp closures on Interstate 205 (I-205) for maintenance and construction operations.  Work will occur as follows;

  • Closure of the #3 (right) lane of westbound I-205 from East Banta Overhead to Tom Paine Slough for bridge work beginning Tuesday, April 2, through Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
  •  Overnight closure of the #1 (left) lane of eastbound I-205 at Paradise Cut for bridge work beginning Tuesday, April 2, through Friday, April 5, 2024, from 12:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m.

 


Interstate 580 – Lane Closures
At State Route 132

San Joaquin County The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various lane and ramp closures on Interstate 580 (I-580) for maintenance and construction operations.  Work will occur as follows;

  • Overnight closure of the #1 (left) lane of eastbound I-580 at SR-132 for bridge work beginning Monday, April 1, through Friday, April 5, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
  • Overnight closure of the #1 (left) lane of westbound I-580 at SR-132 for bridge work beginning Monday, April 1, through Friday, April 5, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m.
