The Caltrans Division of Research and Innovation is hosting monthly webinars on various topics. The presentations are designed to bring researchers and practitioners together to exchange information and transfer knowledge.
On Wednesday January 20, 2010, 9:30 AM-11:30 AM, Thomas Taylor,presented "Land Surveying 3D/4D Modeling, Visualization, and Building Information Modeling."
Thomas Taylor, PLS is the Chief of Surveys Coordination and New Technologies For Caltrans District 4 Surveys.
Mr. Taylor has a degree in
Theoretical Mathematics from U.C. Berkeley and has
been a licensed Land Surveyor in California for over
10 years. He has written several guideline and
specification documents for the use of new surveying
technologies and methodologies including GPS, RTK,
Deformation Monitoring, and Mobile Terrestrial Laser
Scanning. Mr. Taylor is a member of the California Board for
Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors' Technical
Advisory Committee and is the Statewide Legislative
Committee Chair and member of the Executive
Committee for the California Land Surveyors
Association.
