Transporting a 130-Year Old Oak Tree

To protect a 130 year old Oak tree, a hauling company used heavy hauling equipment to remove and replant the tree. The tree weighed 233 tons and was 100 ft long, 60 ft wide and 70 ft tall on the Heavy Hauler. The safety of the general public during the transportation was a concern. Adequate roadway and bridge capacity to allow these types of loads to be used on California's highways is one of the issues Caltrans is addressing.
