Bay Area Airport Disaster Recovery Plan

Patrick Tyner

Task Description

This task will develop a plan, which identifies specific roles that individual airports will have in a nine-county Bay Area disaster recovery plan. The task will identify and rank the potential damage and needs of Bay Area communities, identify specific airports that can best serve the most impacted and isolated communities, perform damage assessment to ensure those airports will survive the disaster with infrastructure intact, and have the surface transportation connectivity needed to get to the areas of need. This task will also develop a needs assessment of improvements to ensure each airport is capable of meeting its assigned role in disaster recovery planning and response.

Task Objective

The objective of this project is to assess the vulnerability of the Bay Area's airport system to natural hazards such as earthquake damage and to examine the role airports will serve in disaster response and recovery efforts.
