The vision of the Caltrans’ Division of Rail and Mass Transportation (DRMT) is to make public transportation a viable option for all. Our mission is to provide measurable improvements to California’s integrated and sustainable public transportation system.

Intercity Rail Corridors

In addition to providing capital funding and oversight, the DRMT serves as liaison for the following three Joint Power Authorities (JPAs) and their respective intercity passenger rail corridors:

These services offer travel to more than 130 destinations in California and parts of Nevada, carrying more than five million passengers annually and helping to improve the state’s air quality and reduce highway congestion and fuel consumption.
