Environmental Planning
Provides "in-house" support and review to ensure that Division of Rail projects comply with environmental law, including coordination with federal, state and local agencies partnering with us in funding/approving projects.
Rail Crossing Safety and Track Inspection Branch
Administers grade crossing hazard elimination programs, including the State Section 190 Grade Separation Program and Federal Aid Section 130 Railroad-Highway Grade Crossing Protection Program, ensures that passenger rail track and infrastructure construction projects meet contract specifications and ensures that passenger rail cars and stations comply with requirements of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA).
Rail Equipment Technology Branch
Administers procurement, acquisition, overhaul and maintenance of Caltrans owned locomotives.
Track and Signal Construction
Negotiates, implements and oversees track and signal improvements on Amtrak carrier railroads which improve Amtrak service. This includes improvements for better on time performance, faster schedules and smoother rides.
