Los Angeles International Airport
If you are traveling from central or northern California on the San Joaquin, the simplest connection is through Van Nuys FlyAway. This is a major remote parking facility for Los Angeles International Airport. Newly rebuilt, Van Nuys FlyAway is near the Van Nuys Airport on Woodley Avenue, but is not the same as the Amtrak Van Nuys Station. Amtrak passengers can exit Amtrak motor coaches at FlyAway, and transfer to the Airport shuttles.
From the Central Coast, or Ventura County, you can ride downtown to Union Station to board the new FlyAway service, Or you can board MTA Route 761 across the street from the Amtrak Van Nuys Station and pay $1.50 ($1.25 plus 25¢ for an interagency transfer). Ride to Wilshire Blvd. in Westwood; then transfer to Culver CityBus route 3. Give the transfer to the bus operator, and ride to the LAX City Bus Center. Switch to the LAX shuttle there.
For every other Amtrak patron, as well as Metrolink, and Red and Gold Line passengers, the logical transfer point is Union Station. Los Angeles World Airport FlyAway Bus service operates between Union Station and Los Angeles International Airport twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week (half hourly from 5:00 a.m. to 1 a.m., hourly from 1:00 a.m to 5:00 a.m.) and only $4 for adults and $2 for children.
Get off Amtrak, Metrolink, or the Red or Gold Line, go into the tunnel and turn away from Union Station. Head for Metropolitan Transit Agency's Patsaouras/Gateway Transit Plaza's Berth 9. For maps and more information, visit <http://www.lawa.org/flyaway/>.
All the other methods suggested previously at this site are not nearly as simple to use, nor as convenient at the new FlyAway service.
