The Grover Beach Amtrak Station opened in October 1996, after a short construction period. The station is served by two round trips of the Pacific Surfliners each day, and by Amtrak Motor coach services: 1. south to some Pacific Surfliner trains in Santa Barbara; 2. east to the San Joaquin Valley and Amtrak trains at Hanford; 3. north to Amtrak trains in San Jose.
The station has a large waiting room and ample parking. It is unstaffed at this time. Because of this, passengers may not check baggage nor send package express. Passengers may buy tickets from the conductor on the train, from local travel agents, over the telephone from Amtrak's reservation and information telephone: 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) or on Amtrak's National web site: http://tickets.amtrak.com.
Restrooms and a small office have been constructed on the southwest side of the station grounds. And, recently, the property east of the railroad station on Grand Avenue has been developed and a restaurant/sandwich shoppe opened.
