Amtrak to Mammoth Lakes

Amtrak passengers can now cross the Sierra through Yosemite Park to Mammoth and June Lakes this summer!  In a partnership with Yosemite Area Regional Transit (YARTS) new Thruway service has beguan May 31, 2008 between Yosemite Valley and Mammoth Lakes, serving upper Yosemite Park locations and the east side of the Sierra Nevada.  Amtrak passengers may now be ticketed through Merced to Crane Flat, Wolf Lodge, and Tuolomne Meadows, as well as Lee Vining, June Lake and Mammoth Lakes.  This trans-Sierra Yosemite bus departs from the Yosemite Visitors Center, the terminus for existing Merced - Yosemite service.

The new service uses a full size bus with wheelchair access and restroom.  From May 31 to June 29, and September 6 to 28 the service operates Saturday and Sunday only.  From July 1 until August 31 the bus will operate on a daily basis.  Amtrak Thruway buses to Yosemite connect with San Joaquins trains at Merced.
