SAN BERNARDINO - Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol recently opened the new state-of-the-art Mountain Pass CHP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility near the California-Nevada border.
In this Caltrans News Flash, we tour the facility, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and serves approximately 1.25 million trucks annually making it one of the busiest in the state.
The new enforcement facility will provide enhanced safety to the motorists while reducing damage to state highways from overweight commercial motor vehicles. The CHP will be able to inspect vehicles for unsafe loads and equipment violations such as faulty brakes and steering.
