FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

What? Caltrans continues removal of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, eastward toward the Oakland shoreline. This truss, span #20, is the fourth of fourteen 288-foot trusses, weighing 1.7 million pounds. It is sixty-five feet wide and thirty-eight feet in height.

When? Tomorrow, the lowering of the fourth 288’ truss span of the Old Bay Bridge will begin at approximately 11:00am and finish by sunset, about 5:00pm. Going forward, a truss span is expected to be lowered every 7 to 10 days, depending on weather.

Where? The #20 span is adjacent to, and just east of, the #19 span that was lowered earlier this month.

A live stream will allow for public viewing during the operation. We encourage the public to use this method for observing the operation.
