Climate Action Program

Program functional responsibilities include:

  • Manage the Department’s Climate Action Program
  • Coordinate and monitor climate activities and strategies across departmental programs, including planning functions statewide
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for climate change and transportation energy
  • Mainstream greenhouse gas emissions and energy efficiency measures into planning and project development

The climate action program manages and coordinates the department’s efforts in response to AB 32: Global Warming Solution Act of 2006, Climate Action Team, Governor’s executive orders, Administration policies, and related legislative rulings. Works with the Climate Action Team (CAT), Air Resources Board, regional agencies, and other stakeholders on cross-agency policy framework and research focusing on greenhouse gas emissions reduction and energy efficiency measures. Provides guidance and consultative services to internal programs and external agencies, and maintains an educational and information program on climate change and related energy, environmental, financial, and economic issues.
