CIB Draft Interim Report
Comments due by June 6, 2012.
Caltrans announces the release of the California Interregional Blueprint Draft Interim Report. The CIB Interim Report provides one of the fundamental pieces to identifying our future sustainable transportation system. Similar to requirements for regional transportation plans under Senate Bill (SB) 375 (Steinberg 2008), SB 391 (Liu 2009) also requires the state’s long-range transportation plan to meet California’s climate change goals under Assembly Bill (AB) 32. As a foundation to this long-range transportation plan, SB 391 requires we submit an interim report providing a list and overview of sustainable communities strategies (SCS) and alternative planning strategies (APS), including an assessment of how their implementation will influence the configuration of the statewide integrated multimodal transportation system. The Draft Interim Report summarizes key planning initiatives and investments from regional transportation plans throughout the state and assesses how the implementation of these plans could influence the statewide transportation system as a whole. The featured themes identified in the analysis of the regional plans include increased investments in transit capacity and connectivity, more emphasis on active transportation, additional managed lane proposals, and constrained funding. The Draft Interim Report will be presented at the CIB Summit on May 23rd. Stakeholders can comment on the document through June 6, 2012 by sending an email to email@example.com.
