CIB Interim Report

Similar to requirements for regional transportation plans under Senate Bill (SB) 375 (Steinberg 2008), SB 391 (Liu 2009) also requires the state’s long-range transportation plan to meet California’s climate change goals under Assembly Bill (AB) 32.  As a foundation to this long-range transportation plan, SB 391 requires we submit an interim report providing a list and overview of sustainable communities strategies (SCS) and alternative planning strategies (APS), including an assessment of how their implementation will influence the configuration of the statewide integrated multimodal transportation system.

A working group of metropolitan planning organizations will advise Caltrans on the development of a CIB Interim Report.  This CIB Interim Report includes an assessment of how the implementation of SCSs and APSs will influence the configuration of the statewide, integrated, multimodal transportation system.   Specifically, the working group will assist in defining a process for the assessment; advise on addressing inconsistencies in travel data between regions; and provide recommendations on how to improve implementation of SB 375 and SB 391, including ways to improve coordination between involved agencies.
