SB 10, Senator Kehoe-San Diego, District 39, (San Diego County Regional Airport Authority)
This bill would amend sections of the Public Utilities Code. The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) would once again be responsible for coordinating airport planning within the county as it did prior to the establishment of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority about four years ago. Studies, plans, improvements, expansions, enhancements and other actions relating to existing and future San Diego County airports will be handled by the new authority given to SANDAG. They will also cooperate with other entities to develop effective ground access to airports. They will take on the issue of whether to keep San Diego International at it's current location or shift its function to a new one. This bill has been amended three times. A federal bill to require the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency to conduct a feasibility study for applying airport bubbles as a method of identifying, assessing, and reducing the adverse environmental impacts of airport ground and flight operations and improving the overall quality of the environment, and for other purposes. SB 798, Senator Battin-La Quinta, District 37, (Aircraft operation)
The bill currently states that it is the intent of the Legislature to require criminal background checks for all persons operating aircraft over California. This is a new bill, there are no amendments.
SB 881, Senator Runner-Antelope Valley, District 17, (Airports)
This bill currently states that the CA Department of Transportation will provide some funds to help acquire the development rights for Santa Paula Airport, only after US DOT approves a pilot program for the same purpose. This is a new bill, there are no amendments.
