following bills.
***********************************************************************
AB 2230, Assembly
Member La Suer-La Mesa-District
77 (San Diego County Regional
Airport Authority)
Changes the make-up of the executive
committee of the San Diego County
Regional Airport Authority. The
committee would increase in size,
members would be elected with limited
terms instead of appointed, change
their district boundaries and change
their pay and per diem.
AB 2501, Assembly
Member Lieu-Torrance-District
53 (Santa Monica Airport)
This bill requires Santa Monica
Airport to monitor landing and
takeoff operation cycles of all
aircraft for one year beginning
January 1, 2007, and report its
findings to the public no later
than February 1, 2008. An
unfunded state mandate.
AB 2650, Assembly
Member Laird-Santa Cruz-District
27 (Monterey Peninsula Airport
District)
Sponsored by the Monterey Peninsula
Airport District, AB 2650 would
make numerous changes to the enacting
statute to bring it in line with
current processes and practices,
and eliminate outdated references
and outmoded statutory limitations.
According to the author, this bill
would help usher the Monterey Peninsula
Airport into the 21st Century and
ensure that the District can modernize
existing facilities, remain competitive,
and better serve passenger needs.
AB 2847, Assembly
Member Plescia-San Diego-District
75 (San Diego County Regional
Airport Authority)
This bill changes one word in current
law. Not a substantial change.
SB 1671, Senate
Member Ashburn-Bakersfield-District
18 (Mojave Spaceport)
The Mojave Spaceport (located at
Mojave Airport in Kern County)
would receive a loan from the state's
general fund in the amount of eleven
million dollars. The loan
money would be available for constructing
shared facilities such as a terminal
and research space to further efforts
in the commercial passenger space
business. The bill's authors
were encouraged to try revenue
bonds instead of a loan from the
general fund at the April 18, 2006,
committee hearing.
SB 1738, Senate
Member Alarcon-Sun Valley-District
20 (Los Angeles County Regional
Airport Authority)
This bill simply states "It
is the intent of the Legislature
to establish the Los Angeles County
Regional Airport Authority." This
is the same language as last year's
SB 32 that expired in January 2006.
