ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING OF THE PIER E3 IMPLOSION
OAKLAND – Protecting the environment and safety were at the forefront when it came to planning for the recent demolition of Pier E3 of the old Bay Bridge.
In this Caltrans News Flash, Caltrans takes us through the extensive environmental monitoring processes utilized by Caltrans before, during and after the implosion of Pier E3.
Several teams of scientists spent years planning the environmental monitoring to ensure the largest of the bridge’s marine foundations would be demolished in the most environmentally sound and efficient way possible.
