STATE ROUTE 4 TRAPPER SLOUGH/TRACY BOULEVARD
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY - Caltrans announced today completion of the State Route 4 Trapper Slough/Tracy Boulevard Project. The $16 million project, which was funded entirely by the Recovery Act, realigned curves to improve safety in San Joaquin County.
“Safety is Caltrans' No. 1 priority,” said Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty. “There’s nothing more important than saving lives, and this project has done just that by dramatically increasing safety on this stretch of State Route 4.”
“This will increase sight distance for motorists traveling State Route 4 at Tracy Boulevard, which is directly in line with our goal to provide the safest transportation system possible,” said District 10 Director Carrie Bowen.
The project also realigned the northern portion of Tracy Boulevard, installed a westbound left-turn pocket from SR-4 to Tracy Boulevard, and a rumble strip in the median and shoulders to alert sleepy or distracted drivers.
Caltrans would like to thank motorists for their cooperation during this project.
