Part IV

1 .  Is the mission statement of the State agency/large State facility the same as reported in the Integrated Waste Management Plan?

If the answer to 1 is No, What is the new mission statement?

2 .  How has the waste stream, i.e. those materials disposed in landfills, changed since the Integrated Waste Management Plan was submitted?

The waste stream has not changed since the Integrated Waste Management Plan was submitted. A survey of the listed facilities was performed to determine the waste being generated and the material being recycled. Due to the findings of the survey, the 2001 actual tonnage varies from the 2000 projected tonnage.

3 .  What waste diversion programs are currently in place and what waste diversion programs were implemented in 2001 to meet the waste diversion goals?

Source Reduction, Recycling, Composting, Special Waste, Tires, and Wood Waste are all continuing programs. Although composting was taking place, it was not included in the previous report.

4 .  How were the amounts of materials disposed and diverted, that were entered into the Annual Report, determined (e.g. waste assessments, per capita generation and extrapolation, actual disposal weights, or actual recycling weights)?

A survey of the waste generated in the district was performed. Weight was calculated by using the size of the container and the frequency of pick-up. The trash from office buildings was calculated at the public administration rate of 53 LB / CU.YD. The trash from maintenance stations was calculated at the construction company rate of 145 LB / CU.YD. Estimated weights were used in some instances. The spreadsheets that document the quantities entered in this report are available, in hard copy, upon request. I was unable to sucessfully cut and paste the spreadsheets into this space.

5 .  What types of activities are included in each of the reported programs? For example does your agency Business Source Reduction include email, double-sided photocopying, reusing envelopes, etc.?

Source Reduction - Electronic Forms, Electronic Media, Double-Sided Copies, Property Reutilization. Recycling - Beverage containers, Cardboard, Glass, Newspaper, Office Paper, Plastics, Scrap Metal, Telephone Books, Flourescent tubes, Toner Cartridges. Composting - Xeriscaping, Self-Haul Greenwaste. Special Waste - Tires, Scrap Metal, Wood Waste, Concrete / Asphalt Rubble. Hazardous Materials - Batteries, Used Oil, Antifreeze.

6 .  Has the State agency/large State facility adopted or changed it's waste reduction policy?

If Yes, what is the new waste reduction policy?

7 .  What resources (staff and/or funds) did the State agency/large State facility commit toward implementing it's Integrated Waste Management Plan in 2001 to help meet the waste diversion goals?

The Recycle Program for District - 3 is added work for the Building Manager, Assistant Hazmat Manager, and Shop 3 Supervisor. There is no additional funding provided for this program.
