P50. Request Traffic Management Plan
The project engineer may request a signal and lighting cost estimate along with or separately from a request for signal warrants. Normally, the costs of a new traffic signal or the modification of a signal or signal system are to be shared with a local agency. The level of participation is dependent upon factors discussed under the Traffic Manual, Chapter 9.02-5 Design Cost, and Chapter 9.02-6 Construction Cost. When a local agency participates in the various project costs, a Cooperative Agreement is required. Each agreement shall include a statement of ownership, maintenance and operation.
The project engineer should request a preliminary Electrical Design review and cost estimate for all projects that have any electrical involved. This would include but not limited to the following improvements:
- Street Lighting
- On- or off-ramp lighting
- New or reconstructed signals
- Fiber optics
- Electrical service for landscaping equipment
- Electrical service for pumping plants
- Electrical service for temporary signals
- Electrical service for any Traffic Operation Systems
