| Subject: | Dual Units on Encroachment Permit Projects | |
Caltrans' Metric Policy has been changed to allow the use of dual units (English and Metric) on encroachment permit projects. Dual unit encroachment permit projects will no longer require an exception to Caltrans' Metric Policy. This change is effective immediately. All other projects must continue to adhere to the Metric Policy.
Dual units will be required on the plans only for those portions of the project within the State Right of Way. The only requirement is that dimensions and specifications must be in a format such that they can easily be checked against the current Caltrans Metric design standards. The preferred method for representing dimensions is English first, with the Metric equivalent shown in parenthesis.
