Both students are recent high school graduates and will be recipients of the District's Transportation Scholarship Program, funded in part by Caltrans employees and the California Transportation Foundation. The scholarship program was open to all high school seniors and college students residing in any of the District's 11 counties* who plan to pursue careers in the transportation industry.

Keber, 18, will be attending Chico State University in the fall and plans to seek a degree in civil engineering. Pedersen, 17, dreams of working as a commercial airline pilot and also plans to attend Chico State University in the fall.

"Both of these students are exceptional," said District 3 Director Jody Jones. "We hope these scholarships will help them further their education and interest in transportation related careers."
