Hammer This is the 1700 Kilojoule hammer used to drive the steel piles into the bay.

The following pictures show the hammer being lifted and fitted over a pile.

The piston inside the hammer drives the pile. You can't see the piston, but you can see the pile being driven when the driving begins.
