STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge East Span Seismic Safety Project Skyway Contract 04-012024 Outreach Briefing

Friday, November 2, 2001 from 8:00 a.m. to noon Registration begins at 8:00 a.m.; Program begins at 9:00 a.m. Caltrans District 4 Auditorium 111 Grand Avenue, Oakland, California, USA

The California Department of Transportation, District 4 is hosting an information session on the 04-012024 construction contract for the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge East Span Seismic Safety Project (East Span). The information session will be held on Friday, November 2, 2001 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Caltrans District 4 Auditorium located at 111 Grand Avenue, Oakland, California. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., followed by the program at 9:00 a.m. This information session will allow contractors, subcontractors, fabricators, and suppliers to better understand the project. Those in attendance will be able to share ideas and information. Caltrans is interested in hearing the comments of contractors and others about the project

The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge East Span Seismic Safety Project is divided into multiple contracts. Separate bid packages will be issued for each contract. This outreach briefing will focus on the Skyway contract, 04-012024, which was advertised on July 16, 2001 with a bid opening date on November 14, 2001. The 2-kilometer Skyway superstructure consists of 13 spans of precast cantilever segmental concrete box girders and one span of orthotropic steel box girder. The footings consist of steel frames encased in reinforced concrete shell footings. The footings are supported by 2.5-meter diameter cast-in-steel shell piles.

The contract has a 20 percent DBE goal. The contract also has a 3 percent DVBE and a 25 percent SBE aspirational goals.
