This is a picture of a pier footing. The workers are removing concrete from the bottom of the footing to expose the bottom mat of steel which will be spliced onto in order to enlarge the footing.

The rebar that stick up are the top part of cast-in-drilled-holes(CIDHs) concrete piling. The CIDHs will be an added anchor for the larger footing.

Rebar is ready to be cast in concrete. The excavation is shored with soldier pile and timber lagging supporting a city street.

This is one of the houses that had to be moved to allow for the bridge retrofit and the construction of the New Carquinez Bridge.
