Response #2:Based on information discussed in the GDMR and Foundation Report, groundwater, including tidal, is anticipated in this area of the MSN Corridor. Under 2010 Standard Specifications (SS) Section 13-4.03G, dewatering consists of discharging accumulated stormwater, groundwater, or surface water from excavations or temporary containment facilities. Dewatering can be achieved through temporary active treatment system or dewatering and discharge. A Temporary Active Treatment System was identified for this possibility and need. Requirements for Temporary Active Treatment System are specified in Section 13-8 of the SS.

Inquiry #5: Per Typical Cross Sections sheet X-6 (plan sheet 7 of 223), there are typical sections provided for Rush Landing Rd; however, these typicals are drawn incorrectly according to stationing provided on Layout drawings. Can you please revise Typical Cross-Sections sheet X-6 to match Layout Drawings?
Inquiry submitted 09/17/2012

Response #1:The typical sections are not oriented properly; they are shown looking downstation. However, the station limits, based on the "RL" line are accurate, and the improvements shown (curb and gutter, sidewalk, pavement section, crash wall, MBGR, and slope paving) are also accurate.

Inquiry #11: Is there any pothole information for the fiber optic line installed along the ralroad or is there a depth below top of rail we should assume? Is the fiber optic line installed in a steel casing in the area under the existing bridge or is there any information on the kind of backfill used for the fiber optic line?

What is the backfill material for the 30" waterline in Rush Landing?

What is the backfill material for the joint trench? Is the conduit encased in concrete?

What is the pipe material for the sanitary sewer in Rush Landing?

What is the pipe material for the gas line?

Inquiry submitted 09/27/2012

Response #1:Submitted for consideration.
Response posted 09/27/2012

Response #2:a) There is no pothole information available for the fiber optic line. The line is believed to be located 11' offset from the center of track. This will need to be verified during construction.

b) Existing (as-built) backfill material for the 30" NMWD aqueduct is not known. Backfill material must comply with NMWD design standards (http://www.nmwd.com/business.php#DesignStds)

c) Existing (as-built) backfill material for the joint trench is not known. Existing (as-built) information regarding conduit material or concrete encased conduits is not known. Potholing investigations for Pothole Locations #3 and #4 indicated soil beneath AC section was "Hard clay, sand," and all conduits were "PVC."

d) As stated on Sheet U-2, 10" sewer line is believed to be "PVC."

e) See response to c) above. Pothole investigations indicated "PVC."

Inquiry #12: The detour plans on sheets 151 - 158 show a typical for the cold plane AC pavement / temporary overlay which indicates this work is to start at Sta. 403+57. However, the detour plan starts at Sta. 439+00. Which is it? The difference in grinding & paving of the existing shoulder is significant (over 3,500 lf @ 8' to 12' wide)
Inquiry submitted 09/27/2012

Response #1:Submitted for consideration.
Response posted 09/28/2012

Response #2:The limits shown in the 2 typical sections on Sheet DE-1 (Detour Plan - Temporary Pavement) are correct; the typical in the bottom left corner presents the limits of the temporary pavement and the typical in the top right corner present the limits of the temporary overlay limits. The plan-views (and namesake of the DE-Sheets; "temporary pavement") focus on the temporary pavement, however, the typical sections, including the temporary overlay limits, are accurate:

- Temporary Pavement Limits - "J1R" 441+28.31 to "J1R" 484+81.22
- Temporary Overlay - "J1R" 403+57.53 to "J1R" 484+81.22

Since the cold plane and replacement overlay involves conform grades, showing the temporary overlay limits in plan-view (from 403+57.53) was not necessary, beyond what is shown in the typical section.

Inquiry #13: The Utility Plans indicate that the existing 12 kV and 60 kV overhead lines are to be relocated by others. Normally ther is a chart in the special provisions which indicates when this will take place and how long it will take to relocate these overhead lines, however, no chart exists. Since this is an A + B contract, can you indicate when and how long this work will take to complete as it will affect Stage 1B work.

Inquiry #14: Contract No. 04-2640L4
1) According to the Bid Schedule, Remove Concrete Sidewalk and Remove Concrete (Curb and Gutter) are to be paid in Bid Items #49 and #50 respectively; however, for Bid Item #48 Remove Concrete there is 48cy of concrete removal for Sidewalk & C&G shown on Summary of Quantities (plan sheet 180 of 223) which duplicates areas of sidewalk and C&G removal already performed in Bid Items 49 & 50. Please clarify if the quantity of Remove Concrete Sidewalk and Curb & Gutter is being quantified twice?

Inquiry submitted 09/28/2012

Response #1:Submitted for consideration.

Response #2:It was an error including Bid Item # 48 (Remove Concrete - 48 CY) in the Summary of Quantities. But it's too late to issue an addendum. Bidder is to bid according to the current plans and specs..
