Inquiry #1: Reference the CALTRANS Memorandum to District Directors regarding Pavement Smoothness dated 08/15/2016. The Memorandum States (in part): "To ensure all bidders have the same basis for bidding on hot-mix asphalt and concrete pavement projects, the districts will now provide to bidders the existing pavement profile smoothness data taken within six months of the project's ready-to-list (RTL) milestone." Please issue and addendum and provide current Pavement Profiles?

This information is needed to evaluate the existing condition of the roadway due to the fact that there is no pre-paving grinding bid item provided to fix the road prior to a thin grind and overlay.

Inquiry #2: In regard to item # 5 (Temp. Pavement Marker)
Standard Specifications require 7 days waiting time before you can apply pavement markers using bitumen (hot melt). Then you have the issue of removing the temporary markers (possible damage to the AC) before applying the permanent markers and the thermo striping. Wouldn't it be more cost effective to just place painted temporary striping during the paving operation, thus eliminating the possibility of the temporary markers sinking in the new asphalt and the possible damage to the new AC if removal of the temporary markers is required? Please consider placing temporary stripe over installing temporary pavement markers.

Inquiry #3: Reference Bidders Inquiry #1 and Addendum #2. Thank you for providing the Inertial Profile data for the mainline lanes on both NB and SB I-15. None of the data provided address the onramps and offramps that are scheduled to receive the same cold plane and overlay treatment. Please provide the same data for these locations as well. If the data is not provided will all the ramps on this project be excluded from the smoothness requirements of the specifications? Please confirm.

Inquiry #4: Please see ROADWAY QUANTITIES SHEET NO. 35 Q-2. The calculations used for SQYD of cold plane are correct. The conversion used to calculate the tonnage appears to be off.
The quantities for bid item 13 have been overstated by 15%.

Please check the calculations for bid item #13 and clarify.
