Inquiry #2: The plans call for construction of the jointed plane concrete pavement (JPCP) on I-10 Eastbound from Station 1285+00 to 1296+71.12. There is no contract item for the removal of the existing surfacing/subgrade that is necessary to construct the new JPCP . Please clarify where the removal of the surfacing/subgrade is to be paid.

Inquiry #5: On the summary of quantities Q-3 (Page 44), it shows PCCP grinding from Stations 1283+55 to 1459+25 both Eastbound and Westbound.

Will the panel replacments be ground with the rest of the highway and be included in the SY payment for Item 53 - Grind Existing Concrete Pavement?

Inquiry #6: Caltrans has released latest revisions to the Superpave NSSP dated 08-30-2013. These latest revisions include some modifications to the Superpave specifications that are not included in Contract#08-0K2304 (Page 51, 39-5 HOT MIX ASPHALT , SUPERPAVE). The Caltrans contact for additional information on these latest revisions to the Superpave NSSP is Joe Peterson, Chief, Office of Roadway Materials Testing METS.

Will Caltrans issue a change order to include the latest revisions to the Superpave NSSP for Contract#08-0K2304 as issued by the Office of Roadway Materials Testing METS?

Inquiry #7: Can you please clarify which cracks (asphalt shoulders or concrete freeway) get treated in Bid Item 34 - Crack Treatment.

Section 37-5.03 states that the reservoir must be 1/2 inches wide by 1/2 inches deep. Should the crack be routed to obtain this?

Section 37-5.03 states to fill the crack recessed 1/4" and fill the crack overband not more than 3 inches wide. These conflict, please clarify.

Inquiry #8: What is the meaning of the two closure charts on Page 13 of the Special Provisions? One chart states that one lane of traffic can be maintained for EB traffic 24/7, and the other chart restricts it to both EB and WB from 0700 to 1600 (7am to 4pm). Please clarify.

Inquiry #9: Where is of the pre paving inertial profiler and grinding to be performed on this job? Traffic lanes on the mainline highway have no asphalt work, and CAL TRANS specs currently state that shoulders do not require profilograph. Please clarify.
