Inquiry #2: Bid Item 66 "Lean Concrete Base Rapid Setting" & Bid Item 71 "Jointed Plain Concrete Pavement (Rapid Strength Concrete)" are shown on the Roadway summary, sheet 40, but the location of these two items are NOT shown on any of the drawings. Please indicate where these 2 bid items are to be used.

Response #1:Lean Concrete Base Rapid Setting and Jointed Plain Concrete Pavement (Rapid Strength Concrete) is used in Structural Section 2 (X-1) to place the concrete termini at the end of the ramp to Nogales. It is also shown on the Layout plan sheet (L-1) just above the BC for the station line of the off-ramp in the area of the concrete termini.

Inquiry #3: On the drainage quantitiy drawing (DQ-1), drainage unit 4c and 4d are reversed. Also there is no detail given on any of the drawings for the 6.7 CY of minor concrete for drainage unit 4e. What is this 6.7 CY of concrete to be used for?

Inquiry #4: For Metal Beam Guard Railing, the layout on Plan Sheet No. 5 show's one end of the Metal Beam Guard Railing to have an Alternative In-Line Terminal System, but the other end has no treatment, SFT, etc. What will Caltrans put at this end?

Response #1:The layout sheet shows both terminal systems to be installed. The one adjacent to the mainline shoulder where the GSRD and bioswale will be constructed has the Alternative In-Line Terminal System. The one at the end of the retaining wall, after the Transition Railing (Type WB) is the Alternative Flared Terminal System with the Type 12B Layout.
