Inquiry #1: On the south side of the structure sheet #23, U-1 shows installing 1-3" Type 1 conduit, 2-4" type 1 conduits and 1-2" type 1 conduit, for a total of 4 conduits. Now shown on sheet #97 "Typical Section" shows installing 1-3" conduit, 1-4" conduit & 1-3" conduit. On sheet 112, it shows the same amount of conduits as sheet 97. Please correct so we can complete our take off.IF THE CONDUITS TO BE INSTALLED ON THE SOUTH SIDE ARE JUST 3 TOTAL THEN THE UNDERGROUND PORTION OF THE UTILITY CONDUIT INSTALL WILL NEED TO BE CORRECTED ON SHEETS 23, U-1 & 24, U-2.

Inquiry #2: To simplify bidder inquiry #1, It appears that 1-4" (PGE) Conduit is missing from the structure details on the South side of the bridge. See sheet 112 of 148, Typical section that only shows 3. conduits when in fact it should depict 4. conduits on the south side of the structure. The missing conduit is in fact a 4" (PGE) conduit. Please correct the structure plan sheets to reflect the proper amount of conduits to be installed under this contract.

Inquiry #3: With this contract being a cost+time bid, will this project be in suspension until the contractor installs the bird exclusion devices between September 1, 2017-February 15, 2018? If no birds are present, can we begin the work this year? If we are able to start this year, can the rest area closure begin before March 1, 2018?

Inquiry #7: Item 40- Roadway Excavation partially includes 186 CY of Stripping Excavation for the removal of material found beneath the existing bridge, and immediately adjacent to the material designated as Structure Excavation (Type Z-2)(ADL). There is not a bid item for Roadway Excavation (Type Z-2)(ADL). Will some portion of the stripping excavation also have to be transported to a California Class 1 disposal facility if the soil is determined to be a Type Z-2 material?

Your attention is directed to section 14-11.08C of the Special Provisions, regarding analyzing excavated material for which the lead content is unknown before removal from the job site. Any material determined to be Type Z-2, must be properly disposed of per Bid Item No. 44 STRUCTURE EXCAVATION (TYPE Z-2) (AERIALLY DEPOSITED LEAD).
Your attention is also directed to the “Aerially Deposited Lead Site Investigation Report” located in the Information Handout, for available lead test data.
