Inquiry #2: The special provisions dictate that we may only work on Piers 6 and 11, and falsework for the arch ribs from June 15 to October 15 of any year. Will the contractor be allowed to leave falsework in place that is above the OHW and spans the wetted stream area?

Response #2:9/10/13: The contract requirements do not restrict leaving falsework in place if it is entirely above the Ordinary High Water (OHW). However, per the Informational Handout, the Fish and Game agreement stipulates all construction below the OHW is only allowed between June 15 and October 15. Falsework must be removed by October 15 if any element constructed is located below the OHW.

Inquiry #3: Please refer to Section 14-11.05A Natural Occuring Asbestos, page 43 of the special provisions. This section requires all the native earth and rock excavated from Location 1 to be disposed in a California EPA or Oregon Dept of Environmental Quality landfill. Does Caltrans have a list of these specified landfills and will Caltrans provide the list to the bidders?

Inquiry #5: Please refer to plan sheet 121 of 184. Detail section c-c shows a total depth for the spandrel beam of 12'-9". Considering the top of deck elevation at Bent 8 is approximately 954.10, this would make the bottom of the spandrel beam at elevation 941.35 which is 6.53' below the top of the arch rib at this point. The depth of the spandrel beam at other bent locations(Bent 6 for example) is detailed at 4'-3". Please clarify the depth of the spandrel beams for Bents 7-10.

Inquiry #6: Is there any road restrictions for truck size leading to the project site? Can a full size end dump, flat bed travel all roads? Or is it limited to more 10 wheeler dump truck size and smaller?

Inquiry #7: Bid item #14 Portable Changeable Message Signs is a lump sum item, however there is neither a number nor a location indicated in the special provisions or on the plans. Please advise to the number and location of the PCMS boards.

The number of Portable Changeable Message Signs (PCMS) is dependent on how the Bidder schedules the work for the three Locations of Construction shown in the Plans. Bid per the contract documents.

Inquiry #9: The Pile Data Table on sheet 90 of 184 indicates the Pier 3 Lt Bearing Support CIDH is 48" diameter. Section E-E on sheet 107 of 184 calls out the CIDH pile as 3'-0" diameter. Please clarify.

Inquiry #13: SP 14-11.05A Paragraph 3 Indicates that all NOA excavated material from location 1 shall be hauled to a permitted landfill. The last sentence end in material ...

SP 14-11.05C(1)second to last paragraph indicated material containing NOA can be used on site.

Please clarify.
