Many of the files on the Engineering Service Center FTP (file
server) site are "compressed." To facilitate decompressing these
files, we have made many decompression programs available. Every
effort is made to ensure that all compression programs have a
decompression program available here for Macintosh, Windows, DOS and
UNIX based workstations. Please read the file descriptions below and
FTP (download) the appropriate file(s).
NOTE: Most of these programs are freeware (no fees involved).
Some programs are shareware--they have fees and registration
information within the program.
StuffIt Expander 4.5 for Macintosh from the Aladdin website
StuffIt Expander is Aladdin's award-winning freeware product. Use it, as is, to expand StuffIt, Compact Pro, BinHex & MacBinary files. Version 4.5 also now adds the ability to mount ShrinkWrap image files (electronic versions of disks) and to decrypt Private File encrypted files. Add the Expander Enhancer from "DropStuff with Expander Enhancer" and StuffIt Expander is PowerPC accelerated, expands more formats (including .zip and .tar), and joins StuffIt segments. Expander also handles segmented and multipart encoded files (ie: BinHex and UUencoded files).
StuffIt Expander has an intelligent background processing scheme that allows expanding groups of files so that you can continue to do other things with your computer.
Engineering Service Center's Microsoft Word files can be used by Macintosh and Windows Computers without requiring any translation between operating systems. When unstuffing our Microsoft Word files using StuffIt Expander 4.5 for Macintosh, it is NOT neccessary to convert files to Macintosh format.
