This internet site is intended to be a resource to assist firms doing business with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). It is Caltrans' intention to promote Small Business Enterprise (SBE), Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE), and Underutilized Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (U/DBE) participation in its procurement and contracting process by meeting or exceeding its small business goals. Caltrans is committed to achieving these goals by continuing to advocate for and continue to keep the small business community informed about contracting opportunities within the State of California.
Small Business Enterprise (SBE) - an independently owned and operated business that is not dominant in its field of operation and conforms to standards set by the federal Small Business Administration or by State law regarding number of employees and yearly income.
Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) - an independently owned and operated business by person(s) who have experience in a military force that is not dominant in its field of operation and conforms to standards set by the federal Small Business Administration or by State law regarding number of employees and yearly income.
Underutilized Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (U/DBE) - four identified minority groups: African American, Asian-Pacific American, Native American, and Women-owned firms to be utilized as a race-conscious means to promote and encourage small business participation on federally assisted Department of Transportation contracts.
