ResX Login Instructions and Passwords

Internet Explorer

When using ResX, Internet Explorer is recommended as the Internet browser. ResX is a Microsoft™ product and the system works more efficiently using Internet Explorer. The traveler should confirm that Internet Explorer has been selected as the browser.

Login to ResX

Login instructions should have been received in the e-mail informing the employee that his or her ResX account was created. If instructions were not received, please contact Katie Kennedy at (916) 227-8652.

To begin, open ResX by clicking on the icon in the left margin or by logging in at https://www.resx.com/login/sw_caltrans/. Enter the following information and then click the LOGIN button.

Employee ID: Employee ID number (without the 's')
Password: Leave Blank - system will prompt.

After the traveler logs in a Welcome page will appear. The Welcome page references general Department travel policies and instructions, and refers the traveler to the Caltrans Travel Guide and ResX reference information.

Creating a Password

After logging in the first time, ResX will prompt the employee to create a password. All passwords must be between eight (8) and fifteen (15) characters in length. Characters may be alpha or numeric. Passwords will expire every 30 days.

Lost Password (Reset)

For the traveler who has forgotten his or her personal password, ResX provides a lost password function.

On the ResX login page type your employee ID without the 'S' and click the Lost Password link in the lower left of the web-site. Enter the following information in the window that appears:

Last Name: The traveler's last name.
E-mail: The traveler's e-mail address. The e-mail address must match the address in the traveler's profile.

Click SUBMIT. If the information matches the requestor's profile, ResX will e-mail the password to the e-mail address indicated in the request.

Change Password

The Change Password category allows the traveler to change his or her password. Login to ResX:

To access the Change Password screen:

  • Click on Profile located at the upper left near the Caltrans logo.
  • Click on Change Password to open the screen.

    • Current Password: Enter the password the traveler is currently using.
    • New Password: Enter a new password that is eight (8) to fifteen (15) characters in length. Characters may be alpha or numeric.
  • Verify New Password: Enter the new password again to confirm the change.
  • Click SAVE.

District Move

When a traveler moves or transfers to a new district/program, the traveler's profile in ResX must be updated with the new district/program information. To request a profile update, please contact the Travel Policies Section .

Display Options

The Display Options category allows the traveler to select options for travel information display. After the traveler logs in a Welcome page will appear. The Welcome page references general Department travel policies, instructions, and refers the user to the Caltrans Travel Guide and ResX reference information. Click continue at either top or bottom of the Welcome page.

To access the Display Options screen:

  • Click on Profile located at the upper left near the Caltrans logo.
  • Click on Display Options to open the screen.
  • Select the desired format for the fields indicated below:
    • Date Format
    • Time Format
    • Distance Format
    • Currency Format
    • Suggested Itinerary Format
    • Air Display Number
    • Car Display Number
    • Hotel Display Number
    • Hotel Room Options
    • Internet Connection Type *
  • Review and change formats as desired and click SAVE.
* Note: The Internet Connection Type is dependent on what is appropriate for your 'current' location when either creating or modifying this setting. If setting up for use from work, select the Company Internet Connection.

Frequent Flyer Miles (Membership Numbers)

To access the Frequent Flyer Miles (Membership Numbers) screen:

  • Click on Profile located at the upper left near the Caltrans logo..
  • Click on Membership Numbers to open the screen.

Air Membership Numbers

  • Click Add New Air Membership Numbers.
  • Select the appropriate airline carrier from the drop down menu and input the traveler's membership number.
  • Click SAVE.

Car Membership Numbers

  • Click Add New Car Membership Numbers.
  • Select the appropriate car rental company from the drop down menu and input the traveler's membership number.
  • Click SAVE.

Hotel Membership Numbers

  • Click Add New Hotel Membership Numbers.
  • Select the appropriate hotel from the drop down menu and input the traveler's membership number.
  • Click SAVE.

Personal Information

The Personal Information category of the traveler's Profile is the only category that contains required fields such as the traveler's name, e-mail address, and contact information. The required fields are indicated with a red asterisk (* ). All other categories are optional and do not require update; however, the traveler is encouraged to complete as many fields as possible.

To begin, open ResX by clicking on the icon in the left margin or by logging in at https://www.resx.com/login/sw_caltrans/. To access the Personal Information screen:

  • Click on Profile located at the upper left near the Caltrans logo.
  • The traveler must ensure the following required fields contain information that is both valid and complete. The traveler should use his or her legal name when updating name fields.

    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • E-mail Address
    • Home Phone Number
    • Work Phone Number
  • When planning international trips the traveler is also required to enter passport and contact information.
  • Click the SAVE button whenever information has been added, modified, or removed.
