State Office Overview

This Office's primary responsibility is the administration of State Programs that provide funding for operating assistance and capital improvement projects. The Office also provides technical assistance to agencies responsible for public transportation services. Our products help agencies purchase buses, rolling stock and ferries, support rural and urban transit systems, support commuter and urban rail services and waterborne ferry operations, and support demand-responsive services accessible to the elderly and disabled.

Objectives

1. Administer various State mass transportation capital improvement and operational program funds.


2. Provide mass transportation technical assistance to State, regional and local agencies.


3. Develop statewide policy through innovative research, products, services, and information derived in coordinated partnership with State, regional, and local agencies so that transit is integrated as part of the mainstream multimodal transportation planning and decision-making process.
