Caltrans Commonly Used Seed Species

The table below lists the most commonly used seed species used for erosion control by Caltrans from 2004 to 2009. The list should not be interpreted as recommendations for the most appropriate seeds to use on a project-by-project basis. Please visit our Seed Selection webpage for a detailed discussion of how to identify an appropriate seed mix.

The numbers indicate the number of projects on which a seed species was applied per year.
