The project is located on U.S. Highway 395 in Inyo County.  The project extends from 2.9 miles south of Independence to 2.9 miles north of Independence.

Project Description:

This project will upgrade the existing two-lane conventional highway to four lanes from 2.7 miles south of Mazourka Canyon Road to 0.4 miles north of Shabbell Lane.

  Project Status:

The project is in the Final Design (How A Project Gets Built) phase, and design of the selected alternative is in progress.   The schedule shown below is dependent on the future availability of funds.

Project Funding:

Project Development and Right of Way costs were funded through the Interregional Transportation Improvement Program (ITIP) and programmed in the 1998 State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). Construction costs were funded through the ITIP and the Inyo, Mono and Kern County Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP) and programmed in the 2004 STIP.
