Eastern Sierra Bicycle Guide
Olancha - Stovepipe Wells (MAP 6)

Description:  State Route 190, leaves U.S. Highway 395 heading east towards Panamint and Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley National Monument. This is a curvilinear highway with steep grades and low valley elevations.  Elevations descend to sea level and rise to 5,000 feet. Traffic is unusually light. The landscape is arid.  During the summer months average temperatures are 120 degrees.  Water is a precious commodity along this route and services are limited.
State Route 136, exits U.S. Highway 395 just south of Lone Pine and connects with SR-190 to the south-east.  SR-136 is a 2-lane highway with narrow 2 ft. shoulders and flat grades. Traffic is extremely light.
