Description: State Route 168, has two distinct segments Lake Sabrina at over 9,000 ft. elevation and Bishop at 4,000 ft. elevation from Lake Sabrina to Bishop Grades are steep and almost entirely downhill . Traffic is light and the scenery exceptional. Approximately, 4-miles west of Bishop the route becomes more urban in nature, featuring 4-lanes, shoulders up to 8 ft. wide and turn lanes. The route features 2-lanes and variable narrow shoulders.
The second portion of this route departs from the SR-395 Jct. just north of Big Pine at 4,000 ft. elevation and traverses a formidable mountain range to the east with elevations of over 7,000 ft. This section of the route consists of a 2-lane hwy. with narrow shoulders. Traffic is light and grades are extremely steep. Vistas of high deserts and arid mountain passes are featured along this route.Services
