The California Department of Transportation - Caltrans announces construction work on State Route 33 in Kings County.

The seven mile rehabilitation project started construction in mid-August and is expected to complete early next year (weather permitting). This project will rehabilitate and reconstruct damaged pavement on State Route 33. In addition, this project will widen the existing 11 foot lanes to 12 foot lanes and add four foot shoulders within the project limits. This project will also level out some of the elevated portions of roadway and improve drainage thereby, enhancing the safety of the road.

Motorists who drive this route should expect 10 minute traffic delays with one-way traffic control, Monday thru Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Motorists driving this route will be driving on unpaved roads, therefore, motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route.

Due to the holiday weekend, there will be no work on Friday, August 31 2007 through Monday, September 3, 2007. Work will resume on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 6:00 a.m.
