State Route 99 - Kingsburg to Selma Widening Project

Information regarding the upcoming traffic diversion phase on State Route 99 within the City of Selma.

State Route 99 is the main artery through the Central Valley and is essential to the economic development of the San Joaquin Valley as well as the State of California. This project will greatly increase the capacity and traffic flow of the existing facility, dramatically reduce traffic congestion and provide an improved primary north-south route. Motorists will also benefit from improved safety on this segment of State Route 99.

The project will to convert the current four-lane freeway to a six-lane freeway on State Route 99 from the StateRoute 99/State Route 201 separation in Kingsburg to just north of the Floral Avenue undercrossing in the City of Selma.

Included in the project is the construction of two new concrete lanes in the existing median, concrete shoulders, and concrete median barrier. In addition, the project will rehabilitate the existing four-lane concrete pavement, existing asphalt concrete ramps, and provide new replacement planting for the removal of the existing median oleander planting.

The project continues the extension of six-lane freeway south of the Fresno metropolitan area to the Tulare/Fresno County line and is consistent with the Transportation Concept Report, the Interregional Transportation Plan, and the Fresno County Regional Transportation Plan. It continues the widening objective for State Route 99 to create a minimum six-lane freeway through the San Joaquin Valley.
