Q2) Are there highway cross sections available in the plan set? If so, what are the sheet numbers? I've contacted Peter Krongiebel at Community Printing and Publishing and he is not familiar with such sheets. Thank you.

A) There are cross-section sheets available at Community Printing and Publishing in Bishop CA. Attached is a list of what is included in the package.

  • Q3) When you add up all the roadway ex quantities on the layout, drainage and profile sheets, I total ex 291115 m3 emb 334002 m3. Your bid quantity is Roadway ex 368000 m3. Your plans show 367785 as rd ex (pay). Your excavation (nonpay) shows 292157 m3 and embankment (nonpay) of 335477 m3. Please review your bid pay quantity.

    A) An addendum is being prepared and will be forthcoming to address these concerns.


    Q4 ) In the Materials Handout, in the Letter of Consent from the BLM, pg 5 of 8, Item 13, requires improvements to the highway for truck access as required by Caltrans, all work done in the right of way under Caltran's authority. What is the layout required for the improvments to 395 for use of this pit? Grading, drainage, paving, striping...

    A) An addendum is being prepared and will be forthcoming to address these concerns.


    Q5 )Is there a minimum amount of time before the bid to demonstrate good-faith effort for DVBE participation? We would like to bid as a prime contractor but do not know if we have enough time to advertise for DVBE.

    A5) The Special Provisions do not specify the number of days that a bidder must advertise; however, the DVBE Resource Packet issued by the Department of General Services recommends that a bidder advertise for DVBE participation at least 14 days before bid opening.


    Q6) Is the Bid date for this contract still July 17, 2007 even though it is July 9, 2007 and no addendum or cross sections have been made available?

    Q8) Is the bid date for this project going to be extended?

    Q9) We have been unable to review the cross sections to date, we understand they will be made available electronicly with the addendum which is due out soon. After visiting the project site believe it will be neccesary to complete a takeoff based on the cross sections to effectively bid on this project. If the addendum is issued the week of July 9 with the cross section files is there a possibility that the bid date could be delayed for two weeks to allow time to do the work required?.

    A9) We realize that this question has been brought to our attention and we have been notified that x-sections are available and the bid has been extended per addendum #2. Therefore, to answer the question:
