Contract 06-0M3204

The responses to bidder's inquiries, unless incorporated into a formal addendem to the contract, are not a part of the contract and are provided for the bidder's convenience only. In some instances, the question and answer may represent a summary of the matters discussed rather than a word-for-word recitation. The availability or use of information provided in the responses to bidder's inquiries is not to be construed in any way as a waiver of the provisions of Section 2-1.03 of the Standard Specifications or any other provision of the contract, the plans, Standard Specifications or Special Provisions, nor to excuse the contractor from full compliance with those contract requirements. Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given.

Q1) Regarding the culverts to be lined with cured-in-place pipeliners at locations 1, 5, 9, 13 & 14, there is no depth, slope, or invert elevation information provided for these culverts in the bid documents. Please provide pipe depths in terms of maximum soil cover over the pipe crown, and either pipe slopes or invert elevations at both ends of each culvert for these 5 culverts. The depth information is needed for designing the CIPP thickness, since specifications require groundwater to be calculated at half the pipe depth. The slope &/or invert elevation information is needed for determining appropriate cleaning and installation procedures to be used.

A1) Please refer to "Acceptance Criteria", Section 4 as found under "CURED-IN-PLACE PIPELINER (CIPP) of the Special Provisions. 22Mar11.

Q2) For the culverts to be lined with cured-in-place pipeliners at locations 1, 5, 9, 13 & 14, the specifications currently require the CIPP thickness to be at least 0.7 inches (17.8mm). This is an extremely thick minimum thickness, especially in the smaller diameters, and likely much thicker than any CIPP thickness design calculation would produce. Please re-evaluate this minimum thickness requirement and either eliminate it or reduce it to a lower minimum required thickness for the CIPP.

A2) Please refer to "Acceptance Criteria", Section 4 as found under "CURED-IN-PLACE PIPELINER (CIPP) of the Special Provisions. 22Mar11.

Q3) Sheet number 2 of 6 shows the drainage profile but give no depth. What bury depth are we to use to for CIPP calculation?

A3) Please refer to "Acceptance Criteria", Section 4 as found under "CURED-IN-PLACE PIPELINER (CIPP) of the Special Provisions. 22Mar11.

Q4) List of bid items and bid form show cubic yards for bid item number 7. Should this be lineal feet?

A4) No. Cubic yards is correct. 22Mar11.
