The responses to bidder's inquiries, unless incorporated into a formal addendem to the contract, are not a part of the contract and are provided for the bidder's convenience only. In some instances, the question and answer may represent a summary of the matters discussed rather than a word-for-word recitation. The availability or use of information provided in the responses to bidder's inquiries is not to be construed in any way as a waiver of the provisions of Section 2-1.03 of the Standard Specifications or any other provision of the contract, the plans, Standard Specifications or Special Provisions, nor to excuse the contractor from full compliance with those contract requirements. Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given.

Q1) Under Alternative Crash Cushion System (TL-3) second paragraph states that you can use one of the following or a approved equal. Items 1,2 and 3 are equals being Non Gating, Re-Directive, Repairable Crash Cushions. But Item 4 (ADIEM) is a partially gating, partially re-directive Crash Cushion, totally different. Since the listed types are not equal and we want to use a totally different type can we use a equal to either type.

A1) No. An addendum #1 will be issued to delete the ADIEM from the alternatives list.


Q2) It appears that areas to receive "Hot Mix Asphalt (Type A)" and "Place Asphalt Concrete (Miscellaneous Areas)" may be double counted in the quantities section of the plans and bid schedule. Specifically, clarification is needed for the areas to receive "Hot Mix Asphalt (Type A)" and "Place Asphalt Concrete (Miscellaneous Areas)" for bid item numbers 23 and 40. Please advise.

A2) Please see location 23 page 15 and location 40 page 26, not related to Items 23 and 40.


Q3) Please provide some type of quantity summary sheet, that will define those locations that are included in the Final Pay Quantity of 46.1 m3 for contract item 47.
