Contract 10-1F220(10A1887)

The responses to bidder's inquiries, unless incorporated into a formal addendem to the contract, are not a part of the contract and are provided for the bidder's convenience only. In some instances, the question and answer may represent a summary of the matters discussed rather than a word-for-word recitation. The availability or use of information provided in the responses to bidder's inquiries is not to be construed in any way as a waiver of the provisions of Section 2-1.03 of the Standard Specifications or any other provision of the contract, the plans, Standard Specifications or Special Provisions, nor to excuse the contractor from full compliance with those contract requirements. Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given.

Inquiry 1.) Section 14, Environmental Stewardship, requires an Asbestos Plan, Survey, Sampling and Analysis.  Is this correct?  I am unaware of asbestos-containing materials being used in Overhead Sign Structure work, and this work does not disturb existing bridge railings.

Response 1.) The Asbestos Compliance Plan (ACP) is triggered by the section 14-11.16. Activities such as drilling into the concrete, trigger the requirement for asbestos sampling. 09Mar17

Inquiry 2.) Bid items #15, 16, 19, 20 & 21 do not match the quantities given in the Plans. What is Item #9 for? There is no concrete to be placed on the project.

Response 2.) Please refer to addendum No. 2 dated March 10, 2017. 15Mar17

Inquiry 3.) Bid item #12, Remove SS Walkway, 2 Each, does not account for removal of two (2) walkways at Location #S4-1 & S4-2. Does the walkway get removed only in front of the Sign Panels, or across the entire length of the Overhead Sign Bridges?

Response 3.) Please refer to addendum No. 2 dated March 10, 2017. 15Mar17
