Bay Area System Plan for Regional Express Bus Service

			-Created and funded by Caltrans to support the development of Regional Express Bus service in the Bay Area. -Structured to maximize existing efforts to strategic advantage. -Designed to identify innovative strategies to make the Bay Area's Regional Express Bus system a reality.

This project is a joint partnership between Caltrans-District 4 Oakland, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Bay Area Transit Agencies, and the University of California Transportation Center


	Project Scope & Purpose

The purpose of this project is to develop a Bay Area System Plan for Regional Express Bus Service (REB Plan). The project will be completed in three phases:



	Phase I In Phase I of the project, the study team will review and analyze the plans being proposed for regional HOV lanes and express bus services, identifying any areas needing additional work or refinement and highlighting physical and operational infrastructure improvements to make the proposed REB system work effectively. Phase I Draft Report

	Phase II In Phase II of the project, the system plan for REB service will be developed. The technologies, designs, service and operations proposals and infrastructure improvements identified in the Phase I work will be further developed and evaluated. Alternatives for institutional arrangements will be refined. Phase II Draft Report

	Phase III In Phase III of the study, the team will develop a work program for a pilot project to implement a portion or portions of the REB plan in a high priority corridor Phase III Draft Report
